McLaren’s newly-revealed 600 Longtail – a more powerful yet lighter version of the 570S – packs a punchy 592bhp to make it the fastest and most focused model in the brand’s acclaimed Sports Series range.
The 600LT weighs in at 211.6lbs (95.98kg) lighter than the standard 570S Coupe and comes with modified carbon fibre bodywork extended by 7.3cm. There is also an expanded front splitter, new side sills, and a longer diffuser at the back where a fixed wing boosts aerodynamics by increasing downforce.
The twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine has been upgraded by 30 brake horsepower and 14 pound-feet of torque compared to the 570S. Although no performance figures have been released by McLaren, the 600LT is expected to surpass the 570S’ 0-62mph time of 3.2sec and top speed of 204mph.
Inside, customers can reduce the vehicle’s weight even further by exchanging the P1 carbon fibre racing seats for even lighter carbon versions from the Senna model. Other performance-enhancement options include a carbon fibre roof and vented carbon fibre front wings.
Assembly will begin in October and McLaren says production is to be strictly limited and will last a maximum of 12 months.
